How we 89x’d the organic traffic to Quildo in under 8 months.

Quidlo is an online employee time tracking and project management software that helps teams be more productive.

The numbers in a nutshell:

  • August 2022: 162/mo in organic traffic

  • March 2023: 14,500+/mo in organic traffic, AND:

    • 215%+ increase in 2-week trials

    • 81%+ increase in MRR

The problem: Low, stagnant organic traffic

During our free 20-minute consultation call, Quildo shared a core problem: they wanted to reduce their enormous ad spend and rely on building long-term organic traffic to increase subscribers organically.

In a nutshell, like most businesses out there, they needed to get their tool in front of the right eyes without breaking the bank in the long run.

With paid ads, targeting the right audience is simple. But it's a little harder to do organically. If you want the free and natural inbound traffic to your website, you have to put in the work.

And by work, we mean:

  1. Find what the people interested in your software are searching on Google.

  2. Produce high-quality, search-engine-optimized answers to those queries (usually in the form of blog posts).

So, that’s exactly what we did for Quildo. And here’s an exact copy-pastable process of how we did it:

The solution: Developing an SEO content system

Step 1: We conducted extensive keyword research

Using SEMrush, a paid keyword research tool ($449.95/month), we conducted extensive long-tail keyword research to identify the best opportunities for Quidlo to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs).

Specifically, we:

  • Conducted low-level keyword research: Quidlo had a modest domain rating (DR) compared to its competitors. So, we discovered many low-level, high-volume keywords that we could rank for by conducting targeted research.

  • Identified key customer segments: Career time tracking and task management can benefit many types of people. By analyzing data from customer questionnaires and traffic sources, we identified key customer segments, including individuals changing careers, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals. This allowed us to produce helpful content on a wide range of topics relevant to our audience.

  • Targeted keywords with high purchase intent: To attract potential customers looking for paid time tracking and task management platforms, we targeted keywords with high purchase intent. These were queries searched by individuals specifically looking for paid solutions like Quidlo's.

Step 2: Then, we developed an SEO content plan

With our keyword research in hand, we developed an SEO content plan that would provide Quidlo with consistent, high-quality content that was optimized for their target keywords.

We created a content calendar out of the informational and commercial keywords that would appeal to Quidlo's audience and address their pain points. For this, we use the SEMrush marketing calendar for a unified experience:

Side note: If you want us to create a 3-month SEO content strategy for you and get 2 weeks of free SEO writing, book a call with us or answer some questions on paper.

Step 3: Time to create high-quality SEO content

Using our SEO content plan as a guide, we created high-quality content that was optimized for Quidlo's target keywords.

We have strict editorial guidelines for every blog post, ensuring that they align with Quidlo's branding guidelines. This involved optimizing each piece of content for branding, the target audience, and search engine optimization. By establishing these guidelines, we were able to create a consistent and cohesive brand message across all of Quidlo's blog content.

And with the help of industry-leading content optimization tools like Surfer SEO, we optimized our content for the right keyword density, readability scores, and other SEO factors.

We also made sure that every article:

  • Was comprehensive

  • Included images and custom graphics (articles with images get 94% more views than those without)

  • Had internal links to related articles and web pages

  • Digestible information (short paras, bold/italicized words, lists, etc.)

  • Had a conclusion that nudged readers towards the tool (our copywriters write the header for this section 😉)

Those are just scratching the surface. There are a bazillion other things our professional SEO writers keep in mind during content production with their years of expertise.

Step 4: We stayed true to the plan

To build domain authority and improve Quidlo's search engine rankings, we published new content on a consistent schedule. This allowed us to build momentum and keep Quidlo's audience engaged with their brand.

To save you time, we can publish the articles on your website for you.

Step 5: Republishing content

We also reviewed Quidlo's blog posts that were over a year old and identified opportunities to optimize them for specific keywords. Older blog posts can rank faster because Google has already indexed them in some capacity, making them a valuable resource for targeted optimization. By optimizing these older posts, we were able to increase their relevance to our target audience and improve Quidlo's search engine rankings.

The results – Over 14,500/mo organic traffic in under 8 months.

The results speak for themselves. In just eight months, we were able to take Quidlo's monthly traffic from a paltry 162 to over 14,500/month.

Key takeaways

  • If you want natural inbound traffic to gain customers organically, you need to invest in consistent, high-quality SEO content.

  • Keyword research and an SEO content plan are essential for creating high-quality content that can rank on Google.
